Chabad Islington warmly invites you to the 7th Annual Islington Menorah Lighting, a free celebration for the whole community to mark Chanukah, the Jewish festival of lights, taking place in the very heart of Islington. Witness the ceremony of lighting the nine-branch Menorah, hear the excellent London Klezmer Quartet, sing traditional songs, and indulge in free savoury and sweet treats: doughnuts, hot cocoa, and a variety of latkes, traditional potato pancakes of various flavours provided by Adafina/1070 Kitchen. The evening will feature plenty of free entertainment for all ages, from kids’ activities tent, storytelling, to spectacular fire performances. This year’s edition is made particularly special by the fire walk challenge, charity fundraiser where participants will be able to prove the strength of their character by walking barefoot on burning embers, while raising funds for Chabad Islington. Find out more & take part: https://fundraise.charitycheckout.co.uk/jewishislington/cf/Fire-Walk This is the seventh time Chabad Islington hosts the Menorah Lighting at Islington Green. Last years’ celebrations attracted a record crowd of 750 people, bringing together Jewish and non-Jewish members of Islington community, as well as local dignitaries and politicians, including Emily Thornberry and Jeremy Corbyn. The Islington Menorah Lighting is supported by Islington Council and hosted by Chabad Islington. Please join and invite friends to our flagship event, celebrating seven wonderful years on Upper Street, Islington. This event is free and open to all.
